Above The Law, an action drama released in 1988, is a movie about a Chicago police detective named Nico Toscani (Steven Segal) who had been recruited by the CIA as a martial arts expert while studying in Japan. Nico and his partner Detective Delores "Jacks" Jackson (Pam Grier) are assigned on a case to investigate a drug ring in Chicago. After Nico and Jacks bust two of the dealers in the ring, Nico comes across some explosives that link back to his knowledge of a crime he saw in Japan. When the dealers that Nico arrested are suddenly let out of police custody, a whirlwind of events occurs leading to Nico being asked to leave the police force.
