A Man Called Sarge is an uproariously funny parody of World War II films. Full of slapstick and word play, the film mocks the conventions of war movies and satirizes familiar period films like Casablanca. Sarge Duke Roscoe (Gary Kroeger) leads his misbegotten platoon of French Foreign Legion deserters into the North African desert, battling both his own inability to remember exactly what his orders were and his Nazi nemesis Generalmajor Klaus Von Kraut (Marc Singer). Bumbling military incompetence is the order of the day for both Allied and Axis forces. Kroeger makes the best of his background as a Saturday Night Live cast member to beef up the broadside humor, which includes ethnic stereotypes, slapstick, and a Gospel choir singing MORE [EDIT]
