Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, bowling was one of America's most popular past times. Millions of Americans took to the lanes or watched professionals battle it out on television. Bowling was almost synonymous with urban, working class life. However, bowling's popularity imploded during the 1980s and 90s. The health of the sport became even more dire when network television stop broadcasting events toward the middle of the 1990s.
