A Good Woman allows a glimpse into the privileged world of upper class Americans and Englishmen who spent their summers on the Amalfi coast during the 1930s. Mrs. Erlynne (Helen Hunt), skirting the edges of New York society, flirts with several men, arousing the jealousy of their wives, and is shunned from their circle. Looking elsewhere for a suitable target, she spots a newspaper photo of Lord Robert Windermere (Mark Umbers) and his young bride, Meg (Scarlett Johanssen). Mrs. Erlynne changes her identity and travels to Italy to insinuate herself into his social circle.
