A Bear Named Winnie is a dramatic film directed by John Kent Harrison based on the true story that ultimately led to the inspiration of A.A. Milne's classic and much-loved Winnie the Pooh. It all began with a war. When Lieutenant Harry Colebourn (Michael Fassbender) of the 34th Fort Garry Horse Division is on his way with his troop, the veterinarian decides to buy the orphaned bear cub from a local hunter in Ontario, Canada. Named Winnipeg after his home city, Colebourn manages to smuggle the bear into England on his way to fight in World War I and placed within the London Zoo for care as the troop is sent into France. As war becomes a present threat, Winnie ultimately becomes a star of the zoo with a story inspiring many children MORE [EDIT]
