1941 is a 1971 comedy directed by Steven Spielberg and starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd in a story about two American soldiers trying their best to cope with the massive confusion that occurred in the Los Angeles area following the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. Unbeknownst to the citizens of Los Angeles, a Japanese submarine is nearing the West Coast with the intent of shelling the great American city. What ensues is some of the craziest chaos in movie history, as bumbling, crazed, and just plain confused American soldiers fight an unseen enemy and sometimes each other in anticipation of an attack similar to the one that devastated Pearl Harbor.
