16 Fathoms Deep

16 Fathoms Deep is a seagoing adventure tale about an ambitious fisherman that finds the loan he secured from his rival was not as good as he had expected. Sponge fisherman Joe Bethel (Lon Chaney, Jr.) has a simple goal in mind, to earn enough money so that he can buy his own boat and marry his beloved girlfriend Rosita (Sally O'Neill). However, to get there he has to borrow money to get his business going, and his only option is procuring a loan from his chief rival, Theo Savanis (George Regal). Joe takes the money and starts out to fulfill his dreams, but when Savanis comes to collect the debt, an heinous amount of interest has been added. Bethel soon learns that his rival is out for more than just his share of the fish, as Savanis also has eyes for Rosita. But just how far will the shady sponge diver go to sabotage Joe's plan? Armand Schaefer directs this underwater romp, one of legendary actor Chaney's first roles as a leading man. MORE [EDIT]
