Variety recently published their annual list of 10 Comics to Watch and I had a thought: If it’s 10 Comics to Watch, let’s watch them!
A killer stand-up based out of New York, and he also works at that other New York comedy institution. I saw him perform about a month ago and he was truly a talent to watch.

Another fantastic stand-up. Look! He even has his own Comedy Central Presents. He wrote for Conan O’Brien’s defunct Tonight Show, went along with him on tour and has a slot on TBS’s Team Coco Presents Conan’s Writer’s Live. The Conan writers haven’t been announced yet, but I’m pretty positive he’s a shoe in (but what do I know, Hollywood is stupid sometimes).
Kids love him, everyone else seems to hate him. But he’s one of the most subscribed to people on YouTube, and it got him a movie deal. Watch Lucas’s character Fred Figglehorn and see how long you can manage it.
Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci are a LA based musical comedy duo named after the lesser parts of famous musical duos (already a great joke). Their songs are hilarious, witty, and cute. But most importantly: they’re all online.
Brett Gelman is a character comic from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. He has recently started to appear on more and more Funny or Die Originals, like the embed above (SFW FOR THE KIDS!) and this one (NSFW NOT FOR KIDS), and he is proving his talent to be truly hilarious to a much larger market. His Episode of the HBO show Funny or Die Presents garnered him a lot of buzz for being brilliant. We don’t have it online, because it’s not online legally, but we can’t discourage you from YouTube searching: 1000 Cats.
When I lived in New York in 2004 the buzz around Chris Gethard was that he was one of the smartest comics in the city. His Darryl Strawberry Show, where he plays the understudy for baseball legend Darryl Strawberry was a brilliant piece of satire. Fast forward 5 years, Chris Gethard is still a big deal in the live New York community, but his career hadn’t made the leap it should have. That was until Jon Heder backed out of the new Comedy Central Show Big Lake, and they approached Gethard to fill in. New York comedy nerds rejoice! This Canadian sketch comedy foursome just signed to do a sketch comedy show with MTV. Do we have our new Kids in the Hall? One can only dream!
The bearded stand-up curmudgeon from LA is about to blow the stand-up scene straight to hell. Patton Oswalt took him on tour with him earlier this year, and he performs almost every night around LA. The Pop, a Web series where he plays Popeye is a must watch.
Chelsea Peretti – New Faces 2008

We have a lot of Chelsea Peretti stuff on Clicker, and that’s because she’s super funny. Her YouTube channel features a Web series called All My Exes where she does interviews with her ex-boyfriends. Her stand-up is littered throughout the site, and we have almost every episode of the Sarah Silverman Program, a show for which she was a writer. Also, if you watch the first episode of FX’s Louie, you’ll see Peretti being brutally honest on her date with Louis CK.
A Clicker search for Jack Whitehall leaves us with egg on our face. But then again, on a scour of the Internet, there isn’t anything official from him out there. Variety calls him “the next Russell Brand” and he hosts “Celebrity Big Brother’s Big Mouth” for Channel 4 in the UK. If you want to see Jack Whitehall footage in America contact Channel 4 and tell them. I know we will!
