What You Were Watching: May 2010

Patrick
By PatrickFollow on Twitter

May was a big month in television – how could we forget the final episodes of LOST, 24 and the crowning of a new American Idol? While that was all happening over in TV land, Google’s Tech Talks took the number one Web Show spot and Pigeon: Impossible jumped onto and up the chart to the most watched Webisode. Coincidence? We think not. A little developer conference called Google I/O took place May 19-20, in San Francisco, which featured a stellar roster of speakers and new product launches all of which were live streamed, vlogged about and archived online. Now to the Pigeon: Impossible part – our very own CEO Jim graced the stage at Google I/O to launch Clicker.tv, a browser-based version of Clicker’s guide optimized for use on the big screen, during the demo Jim happened to show Pigeon: Impossible as an example!

Without further adieu, check out the most searched and watched shows, episodes and movies for May. As a refresher, for show titles (like LOST, etc.), this means rankings in terms of search volume, for individual episodes, it means click-throughs to actually view the program.

Once again South Park, Family Guy and The Simpsons made strong showings in May – we’re glad to see that you took our advice from last month’s list on the awesomeness of South Park’s Facebook spoof in “You have 0 Friends,” it maintained a strong presence on May’s list.

Of the new additions to the most searched movies, Avatar and The Simpsons Movie both debuted in the top 10.

That’s it for May – check back in a month for June’s What You Watched. As always, feedback is appreciated so tweet @clicker or leave comments below.

Nice to see David Mitchell’s Soapbox is getting some love.

    Hi Patrick,

Wondering where and how you got your numbers for views of web series episodes. For ex. ANYONE BUT ME. Our MAY views (not counting Hulu, Strike.Tv) were 429,949. The first 24 hrs of our Season 2 Finale on June 8 brought in 40,000 views on Blip.TV alone, without counting YouTube or Hulu which launch a week later.

    Let me know. Thanks,
Susan Miller Executive Producer/Writer “Anyone But Me”

      Hi Susan,

These rankings are only reflecting what is searched and watched via Clicker.com as opposed to ranking views across all websites. I’ll send you a quick email to chat further. Congrats on Anyone But Me’s success this season! Very much hope for a third.
