It’s Friday, alright! But not the same Friday Rebecca Black refers to in that hit song everyone is for some reason still referencing –that Friday happened weeks ago.
Moving up and moving onward, we bring you our favorite online episodes we discovered this week. Watch them all right now, or spread them evenly throughout your ever-so-exciting (and meticulously scheduled) weekend. As long as you check them out, we’re not judging:
More than You’ll Ever Need to Know About Movie Poster Art
It might be more than you need to know, but if what they say about knowledge and power can be applied to useless (slash awesome) trivia, you’re about to have a lot of it. Use it wisely. We recommend watching this one in HD. We also recommend amplifying your movie poster collection. PS. If you ever wondered to yourself, “I wonder what kind of audience would get more excited at the mention of Reefer Madness than any other film in history,” you’re about to find out.
Boom Goes the Dynamite!
“Boom goes the dynamite, what does it meaaaannn?” If you’ve ever wondered where a popular video or catchphrase originated, the Web series Know Your Meme has probably already figured it out for you. This week, the series covers a phrase that exploded onto the scene in 2005 and has yet to defuse:
Lifehacker Says Expensive Vodka is Just as Hard to Swallow as the Cheap Stuff!
This episode of Lifehacker is packed with incredibly useful kitchen tips and other edible information. It’s perfect for those who can’t reach the top shelf vodkas or olive-oils, knuckle-less carb-loaders, experimental caffeine addicts, and for the guy who’s afraid to cry in front of his ladyfriend while he chops her some onions!
It’s The End of the World As We Know It
I don’t know about you, but I’m turning off my Twitter account until Monday so I don’t have to waste my weekend (and apparently, my last hours) reading people’s indistinguishable thoughts, unoriginal puns, and overall quizzical commentary on this whole ‘rapture’ deal. If you’re one of the people who keeps repeating the phrase “wft is the rapture!? lolcats!” on my feed, this video is the one that should clear it all up for you quickly and effectively. Please watch it. And then move on with what little time you have left!
Couric’s Last Stand (for CBS Evening News, anyway)
When I was in college, just about every female student I met who majored in broadcast journalism proclaimed that she wanted to be, “the next Katie Couric.” True story. And rightly so, as her career path boasts an impressive range of memorable newscasts and interviews. As she moves on to the next phase of her career, she takes a look back at her time spent with CBS Evening News. If nothing else, it’s a reminder of all that’s happened in the world over the last five years:
