It’s time to get reacquainted with two of Showtime’s strongest leading ladies, Jackie and Tara. Season Two of both Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara premiered last night and are now available on Clicker.
The new season of Nurse Jackie picks up shortly after last season’s cliffhanger ended, with Jackie (played by the spectacular Edie Falco) forced to deal with her ex-lover finding out about her husband and kids. What does this mean for Jackie? Will her husband find out about the affair as well? If so, what happens to her two daughters and the idyllic home life Jackie was supposedly living? I’m hoping this season addresses some of these questions, and continues the season 1 tradition of fantastic guest stars that all seem to have a deep connection with Jackie. However, this show is not all doom and gloom, as it wouldn’t be Nurse Jackie without a little humor and colorful cast of characters (though Momo is nowhere to be seen, Thor, Zoe, and Dr. Cooper are all back, I’m especially excited about Zoe, whose naivety and excitement were always a bright spot during the darkest moments of season 1). You can watch the premiere episode of season 2 “Comfort Food” right here.
United States of Tara returns with the award winning Toni Colette reprising (most) of her alters one more time, and the rest of her family (including her husband Max, played by John Corbett) filling in the rest of the show’s offbeat world. This season, the show has taken on a lighter note, upping the comedy while still providing a fascinating look inside a suburban mom with multiple personalities. In a few episodes, we’ll even get to meet a new Tara alter, Shoshanna. You can watch the Season 2 premiere, “Yes”, right here.
If you want to read more about the upcoming seasons of Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara, Mo Ryan from the Chicago Tribune has a review of the first few episodes of both shows. You can read the Nurse Jackie review here, and the United States of Tara review here.
Now don’t wait around any longer, watch these amazing shows!
