This week, there continues to be a high number of new shows, but there’s strange theme among many of them. As you look at the list below, it’s hard not to notice that many of the new shows are reality series featuring “celebrities” and their family members that want to break into showbiz. No matter the format, reality TV is most certainly not dead. Here’s the full rundown of new series premiering this week:
Braxton Family Values – Premieres on WE on Tuesday (4/12) at 9 EST
Join the famous Braxton women – consisting of five sisters and their mother – as they work to put themselves back in the limelight. Battling both external and internal factors, the Braxtons’ task is no walk in the park and, with six divas, is guaranteed to be full of drama.
Sinbad: It’s Just Family – Premieres on WE on Tuesday (4/12) at 10 EST
After enjoying success at the top of celebrity, Sinbad’s career and personal life both slowly declined to equally extreme lows. Now Sinbad is remarried to his ex-wife and looking to right the ship. With two adult children trying their hand at showbiz, this comedian’s life is full of new hope as well as new challenges.
Happy Endings – Premieres on ABC on Wednesday (4/13) at 9:30 EST
We all know that break ups are always hard on the affected couple, but no one really pays attention to how they affect their close friends. In this new comedy from ABC, the friends become the focus as they find themselves in the crossfire of two recently unengaged members of their group. With high-profile stars including Eliza Coupe (Scrubs) and Elisha Cuthbert (24), Happy Endings seems to have a bright future.
The Paul Reiser Show – Premieres on NBC on Thursday (4/14) at 8:30 EST
Paul Reiser (Mad About You) is back with an all-new show. Following in the vein of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Paul Reiser Show stars Paul as himself, an ex-TV star, as he searches for a new television show to star in. While he’s looking, Paul’s inundated with everyday experiences that often prove quite hilarious.
American Restoration – Premieres on The History Channel on Friday (4/15) at 10 EST
American Restoration is a new docu-reality series from History that follows the team of employees at Rick’s Restoration as they clean up old, worn-down items and restore them to their former glory. Watch as castaway items are transformed into priceless artifacts.
Mob Wives – Premieres on VH1 on Sunday (4/17) at 8 EST
We all know the term “mob wives,” now it’s time to meet some of the women that it’s aimed at. In this new VH1 reality series, four mob wives are captured living their everyday lives which include court cases and prison visits as well as attempts to stay clean and steps to reform their families’ lives.
Game of Thrones – Premieres on HBO on Sunday (4/17) at 9 EST
From fantasy mastermind George R.R. Martin, comes HBO’s newest show and their latest big-budget endeavor. The series takes place in the fantasy kingdom of Westeros and follows three unique stories from the different areas of the realm: the Seven Kingdoms, the wall, and the east. Both fans and non-fans alike have been eagerly anticipating this series, so get ready, winter is coming.

Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe – Premieres on USA on Sunday (4/17) at 9 EST
This two-hour prequel movie is directed by Burn Notice star Jeffrey Donovan and stars legendary horror actor Bruce Campbell. When on a mission in Columbia, Lieutenant Commander Sam Axe (Campbell) is confronted with some ugly truths, one of which may be that the “good guys” aren’t really good. The Fall of Sam Axe is a must-see event for any Burn Notice fan.
Audrina – Premieres on VH1 on Sunday (4/17) at 9 EST
Having had cameras follow her every move for years, Audrina Patridge is no stranger to fame, and we’ve grown accustomed to watching her pursue acting, modeling and singing careers. Now, for the first time, Audrina stars in her own VH1 series that showcases the side of Audrina that we’ve never seen before – the Patridge family.
Saddle Ranch – Premieres on VH1 on Sunday (4/17) at 9:30 EST
Saddle Ranch Chop House, the iconic restaurant on the Sunset Strip, is the focus of this VH1 reality series. With a long list of former celebrity employees including Kelly Clarkson and AnnaLynne McCord, Saddle Ranch is a famous stomping ground for wannabe actors and actresses. Dealing with their own aspirations as well as a demanding workplace environment, these Hollywood hopefuls have a lot on their plate.
