Early last month I offered my predictions for which network shows would get canceled first. I was wrong, mostly. But hey, that’s cool. I didn’t really want to be some kind of network TV show psychic, anyway. Who am I kidding? I do want to be that. Anyway, the big four networks recently decided which of their shows would get full seasons, and which would not. Here’s a final rundown of the 2010 Fall season:
CBS
CBS announced that ALL of their new shows would get full season pick-ups. Way to make the other networks look bad, CBS.
$#*! My Dad Says – Full season.
Blue Bloods – Full season.
The Defenders – Full season.
Hawaii Five-O – Full season.
Mike & Molly –Full season.
NBC
Jimmy Smits is a talented actor. He was the best part of Dexter’s 3rd Season, but the two shows that featured him as the lead (Cane and this Fall’s Outlaw) were both canceled in their first seasons. Maybe the third time’s the charm?
Meanwhile, the show I predicted would be canceled first out of all the new shows, Outsourced, got a full season order. Thanks for making me look like a jerk, America!
Chase – Full season.
The Event – Full season.
Law & Order: Los Angeles – Full season.
Outlaw – Canceled
Outsourced – Full season.
Undercovers – Canceled
FOX
I was very wrong about FOX. The show I thought would be canceled, Raising Hope, actually became the first show to get renewed for a full season. Lone Star, a show I believed would survive, was canceled after only two episodes. The fate of Mitchell Hurwitz’s Running Wilde doesn’t look too good either.
Lone Star – Canceled.
Running Wilde – On life support.
Raising Hope – Full season.
ABC
Hey, here’s an example of a correct prediction! I thought it was going to be a toss up between Better With You and My Generation, actually, but for some reason Better With You got a full season order. Maybe because it looks like the kind of show that wouldn’t be out of place on CBS, and we all know how that seems to work out.
Better With You – Full season.
Detroit 1-8-7 – Five additional episodes ordered.
My Generation – Canceled.
No Ordinary Family – Full season.
The Whole Truth – Canceled.
And there you have it. What do you think of the network’s decisions? Will next season bring us better original programming? My prediction: no. But given my track record with predictions, I could be wrong. Here’s hoping!
