Earlier this week, Comcast Xfinity, the cable provider’s online streaming service, opened its doors to Showtime.
This means that if you’re a Comcast subscriber, you now have access to Showtime programs that have never been available online before – not even for pay. More than that, most of the newly-added episodes are from current seasons, meaning you’ll be able to stay on top of your favorite shows whenever you’re wired-in.
So what exactly are you getting from Showtime? Allow us to break it down:
Californication: All three seasons are available online, but Season 3 is only available through Comcast Xfinity. Seasons 1 and 2 are available through iTunes or Amazon, and Netflix Instant Watch only carries Season 1.
Dexter: All 5 seasons are available to watch through Comcast, and this season’s episodes are posted as they air on TV. Netflix Instant Watch carries only Seasons 1 and 2, and iTunes and Amazon only offer access to the series through Season 4.
La La Land: This 6-episode documentary series about LA is only available through Comcast Xfinity. It is not legally available online anywhere else.
Nurse Jackie: Comcast Xfinity is the only online source to offer Seasons 1 and 2. Amazon and iTunes carry Season 1, and Netflix Instant Watch does not yet offer this series.
Secret Diary of a Call Girl: Though Amazon offers Seasons 1 and 2, Comcast Xfinity is the only provider to carry all three seasons of this series.
The Big C: Comcast is currently the only online source for this series, though Showtime offers the Pilot for free. The first season is rolling online as it airs on TV and all previously aired episodes are currently available and up-to-date.
The Real L Word: Comcast is the only online source for this series and the entire first season is currently available to stream. Showtime, however, does offer the first episode for free.
Weeds: Though Amazon, iTunes, and Netflix Instant Watch offer Seasons 1 through 5, Comcast Xfinity is once again the only source to provide the most current season. Episodes from the current season (6) are rolling online as they air on TV and all previously aired episodes are available and up-to-date.
Though these are examples of some of their most popular programmings, it’s certainly not all that Comcast subscribers are getting out of the Xfinity/Showtime deal. With all of this exclusive online programming, it’s looking like Comcast subscriptions are finally starting to pay off.
