You were beginning to worry. You were beginning to question whether or not you could still wear black with brown, or if those glances of admiration for your over sized shades were really cryptic looks of disapproval. You’ve begun to stare at your closet suspiciously, wondering if your ankle boots have morphed from fashion victories to fashion casualties.
You’ve been waiting patiently, fashionistas, but it’s finally here. As of tonight at 9pm ET/PT you’ll stop threatening your favorite pair of jeans with those rusty scissors to tune into Project Runway’s 8th Season premiere! It’s so close you can almost taste it. And when you finally do, you’ll also be able to check-in to the episode on Clicker to make sure all of your friends know just how fashion-savvy you’re motivated to be!
There’s more. Lifetime is scheduled to post the entire episode online tomorrow, so you’ll be able to check-in, love, and watch the episode all over again! Have at it, you die-hard, you.

Oh, yeah. You asked for it. The Jersey Shore housemates are back together and movin’ it to Miami for their second season, which premieres tonight on MTV. I hope you’ve gotten enough “G.T.L” in to feel like you fit in with the cast. I hope you’re prepared to fist-pump like champions. I hope you’re ready to face “The Situation,” and that you can smell what the rock is cook– oh wait, different show.
Obviously, I need a refresher course in all things Jersey Shore, because it has been way too long since I’ve watched a girl get punched in the face on national television. Thankfully for me (and you, if you’ve fallen as far off the wagon as I have) MTV is currently offering 13 free episodes from the Jersey Shore’s first season, and you can access them all through Clicker. By tonight, you’ll be prepped and ready in front of your TV with a complete blowout.
Don’t forget to check-in to the Jersey Shore as you watch it on TV tonight; it’s the best way to prove to your friends that you’re not afraid to be a guido.
Another wave of media is on the brink of taking over Comic-Con: the Web Series. During this past weekend’s Comic-Con, amidst the Trons, True Bloods, and Walking Dead chatter, you could hear the defiant chant of the Web Series community, who have arrived at the ‘Con and are here to stay. Let’s take a look at the proof:
1. The Guild:
The Guild panel played to 1600 eager fans, where Felicia Day and company revealed “Game On,” the latest Bollywood-inspired Guild music video.
2. The Totally Rad Show:
The guys from The Totally Rad Show, Alex Albrecht, Dan Trachtenberg, and Jeff Cannata performed their third annual live show at Comic-Con where they talked about all the announcements and cool things to be seen in the Convention Center.
Probably most interesting, and a clear sign of things to come, was a special off-site event called Celebrate the Web. The event, run by Taryn O’Neil, Jenni Powell, and Stephanie Thorpe, was a celebration of all things Web Series. They screened trailers for upcoming series and had themed panels (fantasy, horror, and sci-fi) where creators and actors gave insight into what it takes to create and promote a genre-based Web Series and described the reactions that fans have had thus far.
This was the event that really shined light onto this incoming wave of change. For one, the event was held in a hotel a couple of blocks away from the Convention Center; it lasted from 3pm until 8pm and by the end it was still packed with hundreds of fans eager to hear about where the Web Series community is headed next. The attendees were equally as passionate and dedicated as anyone back at the Convention Center’s Hall H (reserved for movies) or Ballroom 20 (reserved for TV shows) – we’re talking panel members, moderators, and fans alike. In the after-panels mixer the room was buzzing with the success of the event.
So what are we seeing here? The Web Series industry is becoming a serious business with a dedicated audience willing to travel down to San Diego for the chance to meet the creators and stars. Fans have embraced this medium in the same way that they’ve embraced Movies and TV Shows at the ‘con. There’s been talk of pushing this year’s most sought after TV show (True Blood) out of Ballroom 20 and into the much larger Hall H due to its huge appeal, and that seems to indicate that it’s only a matter a time before a Web Series with a draw as big as The Guild makes the leap into Ballroom 20. It’s clear that in the future, San Diego’s Comic-Con will not only be about Comics, Movies, TV, and Videogames, but about Web Series, as well. Some of us already know this, but the masses will know very soon.
If the Internet had ears, they would be ringing with euphoric bliss every night for the next 4 days. Each night at approximately 8pm EST, a different band will perform live online, at no cost to viewers* via Livestream. Why? Because SPIN Magazine is teaming up with Livestream to celebrate it’s 25th Anniversary along side anyone and everyone with access to the Web. Talk about a party.
The event technically stretches for five days, as it kicked off last night with the Smashing Pumpkins, but the next four nights are bound to be just as impressive. The famous music ‘zine rallied some amazing talent who are all known for putting on stellar live shows, including the psychedelic Flaming Lips and the innovative blues duo, The Black Keys. When it comes to four days of straight up sound, it doesn’t get much better than this.
The Internet might not have eardrums, but we do. Let’s use them wisely.
The Schedule: Check out to each artist’s page on Clicker to view the Clicker Live countdown widget for each show:
Today, July 27: The Flaming Lips @ 8pm ET / 5pm PT
(performance begins one hour after the broadcast begins, so be prepared for that)
Wednesday, July 28: The Black Keys @ 8pm ET / 5pm PT (as above)
Thursday, July 29: The National @ 8pm ET / 5pm PT (as above)
Friday, July 30: Spiritualized @ 8pm ET / 5pm PT (as above)
Don’t know the bands? This is the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to new music so take advantage! And let us know what you think in the comment section below!
*The event is free, but there is a catch: it’s sponsored by ZYNC from American Express, so before you can access the free live stream, you have to log in to your facebook account and “like” the facebook group, ZYNC.The livestream page makes these instructions quite clear and very easy, so it’s a small price to pay, if anything.
Ever since my father crushed my dreams of becoming a ghost-hunter at age 10, I’ve been a pretty huge skeptic when it comes to the paranormal. I’m an even bigger skeptic when it winds up on reality television. I don’t know what happens when you die but I doubt you end up on the SyFy channel filling the time slot after the movie “Dinocroc.” I feel like most paranormal show creators try to take everything awful from The Blair Witch Project (i.e. the whole thing) and turn it into a series, constantly expecting us to believe that each loud crash in the darkness is prompted by paranormal activity and couldn’t possibly have been caused by one of the eighteen crew members on site. Yeah, okay.
This was all before I watched My Ghost Story on the Biography Channel. I came across it last week and approached it as I do most ghost shows (and most cooling pies) – skeptical and intrigued, but I was completely blindsided. My fascination with the show wasn’t generated by the personal accounts of the stories, though it would have been if I were looking for a character study. But no, the real draw here is that each story is backed up by real photographic or video-taped proof. We aren’t just talking about specs of dust on a lens or orbs of light reflecting from the camera flash (though there are a few of those), we’re talking actual transparent apparitions in human form. We’re talking about the ghost of a woman, recently dead from a car crash, caught on the security camera hovering over her demolished car at the impound lot. We’re talking about businesses that set up cameras overnight and recorded various objects moving around on their own… no time lapse and no one around.
If that’s not enough to convince you to check this show out, you don’t deserve to feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, ever, because when it comes to ghost-centric entertainment, this program is one of the only shows that has the potential to do that, hands down.
